Book Review: 50 Shades of Awful

I read this book a few months ago and thought I'd start by saying that I couldn’t put this awful piece of shit down. It is truly addicting.  I don't care how horribly written it is. If you're human with any sexual emotion, you will get caught up in this book. If you can look past the cheesiness that lies within it, that is.

Even though this book made me ashamed to be a grown ass woman reading it, I found myself not being able to put this book down. Let me start by saying, I am fully aware how corny this book is with her “inner goddess” always commentating and Christian Grey being a guy that is too good, and just right to be true. But that’s why it’s a book, isn’t it?  This kind of shit just does not happen in real life.

Although I enjoyed the first book, I did not enjoy the second or third books at all. I found them not as exciting as the first and even more horribly written than the first.I also found myself skipping pages to see if it was going to get anymore exciting (a strong warning and indicator that I'm just not interested in a book). The first book was full of explicit sexual details and antics. Anastasia Steele, the antagonist and narrator of the story meets successful  business man Christian Grey, where her world is turned upside down when she gets caught up in his world of dominant-submissive lifestyle. Throughout the book he keeps asking her to sign a contract, but she won't due to her feelings that she has towards him. She soon realizes that there is more to Christian Grey than meets the eye and their dominant-submissive relationship eventually gets out of hand, resulting in her leaving and Christian broken hearted.

The one thing that I don't understand is how they are going to make this book into a movie. I keep hearing a lot of buzz about who they want to cast for the characters, and believe me, I have my own suggestions. However,  the way that this book is written is what MAKES IT SO ADDICTING. There is no way that they can make this book into a major motion picture without changing a lot of the sex scenes and even dialog.

And now I'm going to play the guessing game everyone else seems to be playing. Which celebrities I can see playing the characters of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. This is just what I can picture, not necessarily who I'd want them to be.

Ian Somerhalder as Christian Grey

Alex Bledel as Anastasia Steele

Who can YOU picture playing Christian Grey or Anastasia Steele?

 &

For those who considered 50 Shades of Grey a nice little guilty pleasure, like I do, what do YOU think the movie will be like?

  3. Sub-standard writing by a bored housewife with such explicit and violent sexual fantasies that she clearly has no experience with BDSM and is probably in a relationship, if at all, with no sexual content whatsoever.

Women who say they would sign the contract in a heartbeat are not much better off. Books like this and women who love them (not the ones who acknowledge is worthlessness, but the ones who truly love the books) are a big reason why certain types of men don't take women seriously.
